This
is a section of the site dedicated to the Mediterranean
Architecture and that, going from the Mezquita
de Cordoba to the Tiberiuss Villa Iovis in Capri, from the Adalberto
Liberas Villa
Malaparte always in Capri until the Francesco
Venezias Museum
of Gibellina, from the Le
Corbusiers Chapel of Ronchamp to the Abbazia
Florens of Gioacchino
da Fiore and Luca
Campano through the undergrounds of Naples, the underground
architecture of the Greek Roman caverns exposed to the Triennale
of Milan, the ages, the cultural migrations, sometimes the
losses, sometimes the contaminations, through various values and
the religions, the aesthetic valences, with the contribution of
personal written and of others Authors, of photographys, designs
and other types of iconographic representations, 3d
rendering, cad,
videos, wants indicate a reflection course on this argument.
The site and the section are in continuous development and in
continuous research; from this moment above all with regard to
the Mediterranean
Architecture and to the cultural migrations that have influenced
on its transformation in the time and in the geography.

San Giovanni in Fiore, 25 June 2003
Regard to the Mediterranean
territory and on the Mediterranean architecture:
the signs of the history, the continuous erosions or adding, spoiling,
lichen invasion, chill aggression, torrential rain, saltiness,
implacable sun, the
architectures are entities in continuous transformation in the
time and in the space.
[...]Probably
as rebellion to the concreteness, the greyness, the uselessness of the contemporary San Giovanni in Fiore re-appear the memories:
the most colourful shutters, or frames and transoms of the “Timpune”,
some rare, sensitive person, still colours the contours of its
door differently from that of the neighbour; inevitably the green
of the pines of the Sila, the blue of its nocturnal sky, the
red of the blood of Christ and of all the men of the earth.

Italians Internet Emigrants Web Site
It
is born from a group of persons who in the course
of their life, in the development of their jobs, in the
relations they
feel the consequences of the mass emigration of their population
of appartenance every day, believe in their land, in its concrete possibilities of development. They
work and they live in San
Giovanni in Fiore, Sila, Calabria, ITALY.
emigrati.it is
our proposal of contact and exchange around fields of common
interests between Calabrians and Italians who live in a
foreign country and those, like us, live in fatherland.
The emigration
[...] The
emigration is not delivered up like a neutral event but like critical conjuncture general and persistent that
imposes itself as
perturbation factor of the regulation mechanisms of the
individual and the group. For that same it must be faced
with multiple cultural and psychological instruments. It
manifest itself like period of ambivalent transition, like
a development occasion that contains also a concrete risk
of loss and dissolution.
Salvatore INGLESE
Emigration tragedies
To
fall on their work in foreign country in order to
send maintenance to their own families is a destiny which implied
hundreds of southern emigrants, but San
Giovanni in Fiore paid a tribute far too heavy, with a long and painful list
of victims. ( Monongah, Marcinelle, Mattmark ).
Roots: Florense passion
Beyond
the goldsmith tradition, in the course of the History,
the woven is the one that characterized the handicraft
production of San
Giovanni in Fiore, with bedspreads
and trousseaus with strongly coloured geometrical motifs,
some directly inspired by those of the Doric colonists who
in their turn had been instructed by Persian craftsmen. It’s useless to say that, beyond
small sporadic examples, currently this tradition is practically
extinct.
